How to Control and Solve Welding in Steel Structure Processing

In the process of welding construction, steel structure manufacturers control welding deformation is one of the key issues. This kind of deformation during steel structure processing is mainly due to the rigid deformation or plastic deformation caused by the temperature change during welding. Welding deformation will seriously affect the strength and toughness of welded joints and reduce their corrosion resistance. To avoid welding deformation as much as possible, the following measures can be taken:


1. Reasonably arrange welding groove to reduce welding deformation;


2. In the process of steel structure processing, try to avoid stress concentration;


3. Corresponding anti deformation measures shall be taken for fillet welds, such as synchronous asymmetric welding technology for symmetrical members;


4. Select appropriate welding materials and adopt appropriate welding processes to reduce welding stress.

 

In addition, the following aspects shall also be paid attention to during steel structure processing:


1. When the steel structure workpieces are welded by low temperature welding technology, the welding strength is different due to different preheating temperatures. Especially in thick plate welding, the low temperature will greatly affect the strength target of the steel plate. This is because the steel has low hardness and is prone to embrittlement under low temperature conditions. On the micro level, because low temperature will accelerate the cooling rate of the weld, a brittle structure called martensite is generated between the weld and the heat affected zone. Therefore, when using low temperature welding, special attention should be paid to the influence of ambient temperature on welding.


2. When selecting the groove type of welding joint, it is necessary to open the groove on the joint in order to make the arc thoroughly penetrate into the root of the weld. When selecting the groove shape, the groove form that is easy to process shall be selected to ensure that the weld can be completely welded, so as to reduce the welding cost and reduce the possibility of deformation after welding.


3. When selecting welding materials, it is necessary to fully consider the chemical composition, physical and mechanical properties, joint form and other factors of the base metal. If the welding materials are not selected correctly, brittle cracks are easily generated in the transition zone of the weld. Therefore, on the premise of ensuring the design strength, low hydrogen alkaline or titanium calcium electrode should be selected as far as possible because of its low yield strength and good impact toughness; At the same time, preheat the electrode to improve the fatigue strength of the electrode.
